am always excited pag araw ng checkup. makikita ko nanaman kasi ang baby ko. and were always surprised sa ultrasound. imagine the feeling pag time to open the christmas presents nung bata ka pa. ganun ang feeling namin tuwing ultrasound... kagaya kahapon, nakita namin sya ulit, tinaas nya ang ulo nya then nag thumb suck. nagugutom na siguro kasi hindi pa kami nagdidinner. hehe. ang likot likot nya.
then the doctor took some measurements. may sinukat sya sa bandang leeg ni baby. i asked what that is for. turns out, its one of those tests to determine kung may down syndrome ang baby
there are other tests that he patiently explained to us. but we opted not to take further testing. una, nasa low risk numbers naman kami. am only 27. habang tumatanda, lalong tumataas ang risk. at my age group, around 1 in 1000 daw. second, the measurement he took sa may leeg ni baby gave good numbers. pag maliit ata yung measurement, ndi maganda. third, may bridge na daw yung ilong ni baby. babies with down syndrome kasi, wala daw ilong. so sa mga sinabi pa lang ng doctor, i dont find it necessary to do further testing. lastly, dada asked kung may treatment daw ba pag na detect. wala daw treatment sabi ng doctor. pero we have the option to terminate the pregnancy kung malalaman namin agad. the doctor was very nice when he said this to us. he said its actually a personal choice. but still, it struck a chord. it made me feel that the only reason they did the testing is to give us the option to terminate the pregnancy. i then politely refused to test further. i said theres no point coz we will be keeping the baby anyway, whatever the result is.
am actually happy that the initial non intrusive tests done gave us very good results. but had the results been the other way around, im sure that my answer would be the same. i would keep the baby no matter what. its just rude to send gifts back to the sender right? besides, i know for sure that the baby will be our ultimate source of happiness. who could resist a gift like that? :)

i have been working from home for two weeks straight now. ndi kasi pregnant friendly ang ofc namin. it would take me about 3 minutes to go the wash room. sobrang layo from my cube. imagine na lang kung sinumpong ako ng morning sickness. bukod pa dun, ndi ko gusto ang amoy ng officemates ko. hehehe.
